Courtney and Rick | Bella Rose Venue | Lynchburg Virginia Wedding by Rhiannon England

This past Saturday couldn’t have been more beautiful for Courtney and Rick! We got out first taste of true fall weather, the air was clear, and the sun shined the whole day.

This wedding was a special one for me because this was actually the third wedding I have shot for this wonderful family. I was the photographer for Courtney’s cousin, Lauren, and her sister, Jaime, as well! So, for me, it wasn’t just a beautiful day to shoot a wedding, but also a chance to reconnect with past clients and check in with their families. I love it when my job brings me full circle like that!

We did Courtney and Ricks engagement session last fall out in Charlottesville where they both live. Courtney is a schoolteacher and Rick is a pilot. I immediately loved the chemistry between the two of them and knew they would be super chill and fun to work with on their wedding day after they showed amazing patience and spunk when we had to shoot in between raindrops for their engagement session!

My instincts were proven correct that day as we all rolled through poses and photos with lots of smiles and laughs.

Thank you guys so much for having me there on your big day!

Kate & Brendan | The White House Weddings | Virginia Wedding | 9/3/2022 by Rhiannon England

The day finally came for Kate and Brendan! After much planning, reschedules, baby shenanigans, and much patience these two wonderful people got to celebrate their love with friends and family from both near and far!

Theirs was a day FULL of special moments. From intimate first looks and personal touches, to heartwarming dances that are sure to jerk some tears.

I first met Kate and Brendan back in 2020 when we did their engagement session. I knew right away that we were going to get along swimmingly! Since then, I have worked with them to capture the newborn photos for their beautiful baby girl (who is the flower girl of honor of course) as well as family portraits and bridals. All of this helped me get insanely excited for their wedding and I am so happy to finally be able to share it with you guys!

Shelley & Steven | Berry Hill Resort Wedding | Virginia Wedding by Rhiannon England

Shelley and Steven had the most beautiful day at Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center this past Sunday! So many personal touches were scattered around amidst the bold pops of royal blue. Even the way they set up their weekend at the resort was designed to maximize time with loved ones and make all feel comfortable and valued.

Shelley’s dress was classic, clean, elegant, sophisticated, AND HAD POCKETS!!!! Enough said. Her Irish heritage was highlighted in things like a special wedding prayer during the ceremony, a Celtic charm sewn into the hem of the dress by Shelley’s mother, and the hand tying ceremony performed by a dear grandmother during the reception. Naturally, the rain held up all day EXCEPT for the moment the ceremony was to begin… But Shelley didn’t let that get her down. She unfurled her adorable parasol and waltzed down that aisle with all the grace and poise you could imagine. These two were truly memorable and their love and connection with one another was on display the whole day.

Thank you two for letting me be a part of your celebration!

Kate & Brendan | Cloverlea | Engagement Session by Rhiannon England

We scheduled their engagement session last minute because Kate was hoping to have the photos done by Christmas so she could create her save the dates when she went home to be with family. I was a little skeptical about the turn around time since I’m in school as well as being a photographer (plus I still had almost NONE of my Christmas shopping done…), but when I loaded Kate and Brendan’s session into Lightroom I had NO CHOICE but to edit the WHOLE THING and I delivered the gallery the very next day! Once you see the photos you’ll understand that my exceptional turn around was due in large part to the fact that they did some of their photos in dinosaur Christmas pajamas (!!!). Yes you read that correctly. Dinosaur. Christmas. PAJAMAS! Plus, Cloverlea is one of my all time favorite places to shoot <3 Plus the dreamy light <3 Plus they’re both super cute <3 Ok I’ll stop now…

I had a BLAST with these guys and cannot wait for their wedding in October!

Kayla & Jordan | Taubman Museum of Art | Roanoke Virginia Wedding by Rhiannon England

Alright, my September brides seriously lucked out with the weather this year. Second wedding in a row with an unbelievably beautiful day! Well, I mean it wasn’t just the weather that made it wonderful of course. Kayla and Jordan could make a hurricane look bright and sunny. Seriously, the two of them light up the room wherever they go! It’s contagious almost. The love they showed for not only their friends and guests but even the vendor team they trusted with their special day made you feel right at home and part of the family.

Planning a wedding during a pandemic is no small feet and Kayla dove head first into the challenge. In every conversation I had with her up until the big day she was totally cool and composed with an “I’ve got this” vibe and boy did she deliver! Each detail was carefully planned out and thought through. Details were intimate including a bracelet worn by her grandmother and a charm on her bouquet to honor her late father’s memory.

The day began with a ceremony held at their home church, Spirit of Life, in Roanoke. Friends and family from all walks of life gathered to watch their union and celebrate the journey that brought them there. The ceremony was followed by a brief reception at the church for those that couldn’t join at Taubman due to capacity. Kayla and Jordan made sure to take the time to visit with each guest and express their gratitude for them being there for them.

The formal reception to follow was held at the Taubman Museum of Art. It was my first time shooting there and I loved it! Such a cool space with artistic interest and a modern vibe. Dinner, toasts, cake and dancing filled the rest of the evening and everyone had a blast!

Thank you so much for trusting me with your memories Kayla and Jordan! You definitely hold a place in mine <3

Victoria & Josh | A Trivium Estate Wedding | Virginia Wedding by Rhiannon England

I’ve known Victoria for just about as long as I’ve been in the wedding industry. She is one of the event managers over at the Trivium Estate and specializes in making everyones day run perfectly. And now it’s finally her turn! I’m so thrilled that I was able to be there to help give her the bridal experience that she dedicates herself to giving everyone else. Victoria and Josh are two of the best people you will every meet. They both ooze joy and kindness and their love for each other is sweet, comfortable, and familiar. They’ve been together for a while now, so everyone was excited to celebrate the union that would make it all official!

The weather could not have been more perfect. Like seriously. Not a cloud in the sky, the temperature never topped 80, and with the evening came a cool breeze that left everyone feeling comfortable and relaxed. I am convinced at this point that a bourbon bottle buried a month before your wedding deserves a scientific study for it’s uncanny weather control powers! Their ceremony was held by the side of the manor at the foot of two gorgeous cedar trees. Instead of a traditional bridal party, they had their closest friends walk down with them and be seated with the rest of the congregation. To symbolize the union, the two of them planted a tree using soil from their childhood homes. The officiant gave a service that was intimate and sentimental to tie everything together.

After vows were shared, everyone exited back to the manor for cocktail hour followed by a reception. The table settings were some of the most unique I’ve ever seen! And Victoria did them herself! They tied in wonderfully with the awesome bouquet from Natasha over at Foraged and Cut. Dinner was had, drinks were poured, and everyone danced and celebrated this great couple! Couldn’t have asked for a better night <3
